SKIN ECHOGRAPHY
|
Ultrasound
is recognized as being an essential investigation technique of
exploration in many domains
(obstetrics, cardiology, neurology, densitometry...). Today,
thanks to SKINSONIC, the world of dermatology has been
revolutionized. Meeting the increasing requirement of the
dermatologists who were anxious to observe the upper layers of
the skin, SKINSONIC was born from technical advances
required in high frequency B-scan ultrasound techniques as well
as works conducted by leading research centers internationally
reputed.

Domains of Application
|
The
ultrasound display of the skin has constituted an important
objective for several years now. Yet, it requires a very high
spatial resolution based on the use of high ultrasound
frequencies and of sensors which specific performances (pass
bands, dimensions) has been recently achieved.
The clinical tests made on the SKINSONIC has proved the numerous
applications of the high resolution B-scan echography:
|
|
The determining of the skin lesion topography (dermal or
epidermal seat) and of its spreading (lateral and deep into the
skin)
The assessment of the therapies: in the treatment of
lymphatic insufficiency, of psoriasis, of scleroderma, of an
angioma, of the healing of a wound or of a burn...
|
|
The
revelation of the skin’s mechanical structure (scleroderma,
elastic tissue disease)
The
study of the epidermis
The
characterization of the severity of burns.
|
|
|
The identification of the benign or malignant tumourous lesions.
|
|
The
screening of recurrences (basocellular carsinoma...)
In
cryosurgery: the determining of the volume, depth and follow-up
of the tumour.
The
observation of the inflammatory area (psoriasis, sarcoidosis...)
|
|
|
The
recognition of the oedematous syndromes (lymphoedema, venous
oedema, lipoedema)
The
study of the skin ageing process.
The
evaluation of the cosmetics for the treatment of skin ageing
In
ophthalmology: follow-up of the tumours and of the healing after
a corneal transplant or a glaucoma surgery.
